I must say that I’m very impressed with the automatic anti-spam filter that comes with WordPress – it is called Akismet. At this point in time, it has blocked 715 spam comments, and every one that I’ve checked it has been 100% correct on (and I’ve checked most of them)! I’m thinking of looking into how it works (if it is open source, which I imagine it is). I wonder if a similar system can be written for use on email spam and whether it would be as effective.

This blog is now 1 year old!
I’ve just upgraded this blog to WordPress 2.7 – I was running the rather elderly version of 2.2.2 beforehand. The new admin UI takes a bit of getting used to, but I think it is probably a lot better
I’d like feedback from people to know what to write about. There are lots of things I’m interested in, including
- Other languages
- Object oriented programming
- Program design
- Database design
- Requirements analysis
- Building your own object oriented framework
- Google maps
- Writing HTML newsletters that work across different webmail clients
…and lots of other stuff. Please leave feedback to let me know – I’m interested to hear what kind of things people are interested in.
Basically, it is just somewhere for me to post interesting things that come up when I’m coding, partly in case I ever need them again and partly in case someone else finds them useful.
If you do find anything useful and you want to, you can send me a donation as an incentive for me to keep bothering writing this.
