Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 2000 Test 1

I mentioned earlier how to install .NET framework 3.5  in Windows 2000.  I have been testing this on 7 Windows 2000 PCs, and I have successfully managed to get them to do a simple Linq to SQL query with the method that I mentioned.  I can’t speak for WPF or anything, but I am currently only interested in Linq.  I will post more in future when I have the live system in place.

I’ve mostly found it pretty successful. I had a problem with WCF trying to load service settings for a web service out of the app.config file, which I had to remove from the config file altogether and then set the URL and a couple of other params up in code, but apart from that, all been fine. Linq and Linq to SQL seem to work fine, which was the main advantage for me.

I haven’t tried a lot of the other .NET 3.0 and 3.5 stuff like WPF and workflow.

Has anyone had any problems with trying to use the FileOpen() function with files on the network? I use the FileOpen on local drive and it is ok. When I use the FileOpen on a file on the server, I get a Access denied error. Do you know how to fix this?
